Could $700 million be the key to the first must-have AI consumer product?
What will it take to launch the first must-have AI consumer product? Maybe $700 million.
This figure comes courtesy of Hark, an AI lab focused on creating both models and hardware for a personal AI assistant. The startup announced on Thursday that it secured $700 million during a Series A funding round, giving it a post-money valuation of $6 billion.
The funding effort was spearheaded by Parkway Venture Capital and saw contributions from major players like Nvidia, Align Ventures, AMD Ventures, ARK Invest, Brookfield, Greycroft, Intel Capital, Prime Movers Lab, Qualcomm Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Tamarack Global. Quite a list!
Notably, Hark remains tight-lipped about its project. Founded by Brett Adcock, who previously launched Figure.AI and the electric aircraft company Archer, Hark started in late 2025 with an initial investment of $100 million from Adcock himself. The goal is to create an agentic AI system that will serve as a universal interface for digital engagement.
Hark plans to unveil its first multimodal models this summer, which will drive a personal AI platform compatible with current products and services. Subsequent releases will feature hardware specifically designed for this platform.
The new funding will be allocated towards attracting top-tier talent in hardware, product design, and AI research, as well as acquiring compute resources and components. Currently, the company employs 70 individuals and operates a data center equipped with Nvidia B200 GPUs.
Abidur Chowdhury, a former Apple product executive and now Hark’s design director, refrained from disclosing specifics about ongoing projects when approached by ToolsMixAi. Nonetheless, he highlighted that investors were impressed by a series of demonstrations from his team.
“I haven’t seen anything that feels like something that will really help like the normal person,” Chowdhury remarked, critiquing current AI products in the market. “While several companies focus on tools for developers, there’s a gap for something designed for everyday consumers.”
Chowdhury pointed out that while firms like Anthropic and OpenAI are pushing coding tools, few are centered on developing user-friendly interfaces and integrated hardware, much like Hark. “With this focused approach, our talented team, and this significant funding, I believe we can create something unique,” he said.
However, several unresolved issues linger. A key obstacle will be supplying context within a user’s life to an AI assistant while maintaining the comfort and privacy of those nearby. Current wearables, such as Meta’s glasses or the upcoming Android spectacles, lack effective solutions to this dilemma. When asked how he would navigate this challenge, Chowdhury only smiled.
“Sounds like that would make a great product.”
