Notion Reestablishes Access to Anthropic Following Service Outage

Notion’s integration with Anthropic encountered a setback over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, the firm announced that “Anthropic’s Opus 4.7 and 4.8 models are experiencing degraded performance, leading to more errors for users utilizing these models in Notion AI.”

Consequently, Notion decided to suspend the use of “all Anthropic models” within its productivity platform.

About twelve hours later, Max Schoening, Notion’s head of product, expressed his surprise at “the number of people retweeting this, wishing for a narrative around model quality to emerge.” (Public stats on X indicate that Notion’s announcement was reposted approximately 1,200 times.)

Schoening clarified, “The performance issue was a momentary service disruption. Such occurrences are not uncommon. They can happen to Notion, GitHub, AWS, and any number of services.”

He confirmed that access to Anthropic’s models had been restored.

Meanwhile, an Anthropic spokesperson released a statement noting, “A brief infrastructure issue resulted in increased errors across several Claude models for a short time. This matter has now been resolved. We appreciate our users’ patience during the resolution process.”
