Just a few days ago, Google unveiled a fundamentally revised Search experience, leading with AI-generated summaries and relegating the classic “ten blue links” to a more obscure position. However, the massive scope of Google Search reveals several unaddressed nuances that the tech giant appears to overlook.

As an example, consider the results for the term “disregard” when searched on Google.

Google has faced criticism on social media for this issue, and the reasons are evident. Though the Merriam-Webster link remains visible, users must navigate through a large expanse of unused space. For many, this solitary answer is all that appears on the screen. Moreover, the AI’s output does not provide any useful information for a user searching for “disregard,” rendering it ineffective.

In contrast, a similar search in Bing reveals a different approach, as it has opted for a less intrusive AI summary. While it’s not flawless, users can find meaningful insights here.
