Sierra, the customer service agent startup established by Bret Taylor, revealed on Thursday its acquisition of Fragment, a French startup supported by YC that aids businesses in integrating AI into their operations.

This marks Sierra’s third acquisition announcement. Previously, the company acquired Japan’s Opera Tech, known for enterprise AI solutions (as reported in late March), along with voice agent firm Receptive AI (also announced in late March). The co-founders of Fragment, Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthial, are set to join Sierra’s team following the acquisition.

In a blog update, Taylor and co-founder Clay Bavor expressed their belief that Moindrot and Genthial will add significant expertise to Sierra’s “agent development initiatives in France.” The specifics of the financial arrangement were not disclosed, though PitchBook estimates that Fragment secured approximately $2 million in its seed funding.

Taylor, also the chairman of OpenAI’s board, co-founded Sierra alongside former Google executive Bavor after stepping down as co-CEO of Salesforce in early 2023. Sierra boasts clients such as Casper, Clear, and Brex, and has successfully raised over $630 million to date from backers like Sequoia and Benchmark, achieving a valuation of $10 billion.

This acquisition highlights Sierra’s aggressive growth strategy and its commitment to enhancing its AI capabilities, which could reshape how businesses utilize customer service technology. With key players from Fragment joining the team, Sierra is poised to strengthen its presence in the European market, an area rich with potential for AI integration in customer relations.
